The practice of Anatomic Pathology is based on the understanding of basic pathological processes, pathophysiology, as well as molecular and cell biology.  SingHealth Residency Pathology Program offers an unrivalled and stimulating learning environment to help you achieve your career objectives.

 The three-year Residency program in Anatomic Pathology – is a dynamic medical discipline that comprises general and specialized surgical pathology, cytopathology as well as autopsy pathology.

Comprehensive Patient Case-Mix and Extensive Clinical Experience

As the leading public healthcare cluster in Singapore, SingHealth offers a comprehensive span of patient case-mix ranging from routine and common cases, to rare and complex entities. As a Pathology Resident, you will have access to an extensive range of clinical material in surgical pathology and cytopathology, and pick up valuable hands-on experience to prepare you for independent practice.  

Renowned Pathology Faculty and Dedicated Mentors

Our faculty have vast experience in Pathology service, education and research. Many of our faculty members hold teaching positions with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS and/or Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School and are actively involved at the highest level of training and training administration, both locally and at international levels.  

Dynamic Pathological Training Experience

The SingHealth Residency Pathology Program adopts a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to training. Residents can look forward to a dynamic training experience that includes activities such as supervised sign-outs, in-house teaching sessions, multidisciplinary clinical meetings, hospital-wide clinico-pathological conferences and more. Scholarly activity is also strongly encouraged.

The Curriculum

Our robust training program will prepare you to become a competent, independent and all-rounded specialist in Anatomic Pathology, capable of integrating clinical medicine with changes at the organ, tissue, cellular and even subcellular and molecular level.

Pathology rotations take place at SingHealth hospitals, namely Singapore General Hospital (SGH), KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) and other major participating site, Changi General Hospital (CGH). These hospitals have diverse patient populations that offer you well-rounded training perspectives in pathological practice.

Dynamic Pathological Training Experience

Residents who have completed and exited from residency are required to take an examination in the next year of training. Successful attempt of the examination allows the resident to be appointed as Registrar/Fellow. . After completing a two-years of fellowship training in Anatomy Pathology, they become eligible to sit for exit examinations that lead towards specialist registration as Pathologist with Singapore Medical Council.

Clinician-Scientist Track
Currently, the Pathology Residency Program does not offer the Clinician-Scientist Track. However, applicants interested to pursue a career in Pathology research should contact  the Program Director office directly.
