Post Graduate Year 1
Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY1) forms the first year of postgraduate training after medical school which aims to develop you to be a competent and empathic doctor. It provides you with a broad-based clinical experience to equip you with the necessary medical knowledge and clinical skills. With a diverse and structured training, you will have the opportunity to rotate to various clinical specialties where you can gain exposure to an expansive range of clinical cases and interact with specialists from different fields. We have committed faculty who will ensure adequate supervision and also assist you in making a career choice later in your professional life.

Welfare & Benefits
As a SingHealth PGY1, you have access to the many welfare and benefits provided for our Residents.
SingHealth PGY1 rotations take place at SingHealth hospitals. These include Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH), as well as our major participating site, Changi General Hospital (CGH). SingHealth PGY1s will benefit from the Medicine and Surgery postings, gaining a wide-ranging exposure to hone their fundamental clinical skills. Part of the SMC’s licensing requirements also requires our SingHealth PGY1 to complete compulsory postings as outlined in the chart below.
